GGP Seminar: Dr. Aaron Johnson - "Geological Reporting and Public Investment: How Bre-X Changed the Mining Industry"
Date and time
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM, October 18, 2019
Description

The presentation will focus on facts about the Bre-X scandal in the mid 1990’s. The results of which, led to established standards for ore reserves, sample assays, sample collection and associated reports to be vetted to ensure accurate and ethical reporting for public investment in mining and mineral prospects. The Committee for Mineral Reserves International Reporting Standards (CRIRSCO) was established at the time and in concert with the United Nations, has put in place safeguards to make it extremely unlikely for a fraud on the scale of Bre-X to occur again.
