Dr. Borrok's presentation will address how water stress occurs when the demand for water approaches, or surpasses, the balance of available water in a region. To deeply understand water stress, we need to be able to quantify the problem at a variety of spatial and temporal scales, account for water quality issues and understand the impact of climate and demand variability. These insights provide the information we need to explore more efficient water management scenarios. This talk will focus on an example in Louisiana where the groundwater system is under substantial stress despite and abundance of fresh surface water.
