Mr. Jose Antonio Vargas serves as the founder and CEO of Define American, a non-profit media advocacy organization that humanizes conversations focused on immigration and undocumented status among other identities.

He also founded #EmergingUS, a production company that centers on conversations on race, immigration and American identity. He also produced the annual Define American Film Festival, which provides a platform to examine dialogues on American’s changing demographics. He is most recognized for his TIME magazine cover regarding his immigration and undocumented status. Shortly after this, he produced and directed Documented, a documentary regarding his undocumented experiences which appeared in theaters, as well as broadcasted on CNN in 2014 and was nominated for a NACCP Image Award in 2015.

In regards to his other noteworthy accolades, Mr. Vargas has also appeared on various television shows, such as Good Morning America, Real Time with Bill Maher, Tucker Carlson Tonight, Univision’s Aqui y Ahora and the Filipino Channel’s Balitang America. 

This event will serve as the Asian Heritage Month Keynote Address and is part of the "Shattering the Silences" Series.
