Description

This recital features vocal music composed by MSU Professor of Music Michael F. Murray, performed by MSU voice faculty Carol Chapman, Chris Thompson and Genevieve Fulks and accompanied by MSU music faculty Peter Collins, Kathy Murray and Allison Storochuk, plus a string orchestra comprised of Springfield's finest perfomers.

Music to be performed includes Penny Whistles for soprano, clarinet and piano, based on poetry from Robert Louis Stevenson's "A Child's Garden of Verses" and Neutral Tones for baritone and viola, based on poetry by Thomas Hardy. Also featured will be the world premiere performances of Genevieve's Cats for soprano and piano, based on poems about cats by Wordsworth, Yeats and Keats, and The Last Invocation for soprano and string orchestra with piano, based on a poem by Walt Whitman.
