Public Affairs Conference - Life and freedom of choice: Euthanasia, abortion, stem cell research
Date and time
1:30 PM - 2:45 PM, April 05, 2017
Description

In recent years, advances in the scientific community have included methods to end the lives of individuals and the unborn, and these advances have raised important questions about how, when or even if these procedures should be used. The American Medical Association has influence on governmental legislation regarding these issues, and the different specialty colleges of medicine have standards of care and committee opinions.  What are the moral concerns involving the process of making decisions about one’s own body?  How should stem cell research and genetic engineering be regulated?  What are the underlying issues that individuals and communities need to address when faced with end-of-life decisions?
