Topics in Careful Computing
Mary Pugh, University of Toronto
With BA from UC Berkeley and PhD from the University of Chicago, Dr. Pugh has her postdoctoral training at the Courant Institute and the Institute for Advanced Study. Her research is in applied dynamical systems, applied analysis, modelling, and scientific computation. Computers are a wonderful tool to perform experiments and explorations of mathematical problems. They can give us intuition and help us visualize structures and ideas. But how well do they reflect the underlying objects? Join us to find out.
