The Region VII tournament of the Missouri Science Olympiad will be held on the campus of Missouri State University. More than 600 students, teachers and other supervising adults are expected to take part in competitive events related to science, math and engineering.
More than 21 high schools and 26 middle schools are represented by teams from 22 counties in southwest Missouri. Twenty-three events are held for both divisions, although events vary between each. The events focus on many aspects of science and can generally be classified into three different types of competition: science knowledge, science process skills and technology/application. Various members of the Missouri State community and other local professionals will judge the events.
The Region VII tournament of the Missouri Science Olympiad encourages scientific interest and excitement in the students of southwest Missouri. It also gives Missouri State University and the College of Natural and Applied Sciences the opportunity to showcase their commitment to the sciences and the value they place on student success.
The awards ceremony and several events are open to the public and will be held in McDonald Arena.
