Research Seminar: Advanced Electron Microscopy

Research Seminar: Advanced Electron Microscopy
Date and time
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, September 29, 2016
Description

Dr. Jinwoo Hwang, assistant professor from the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at Ohio State University, will speak on electron microscopy techniques.

Establishing the structure-property relationship at the atomic to nanoscale is required to achieve high-performance and long-term stability of materials for energy and functional applications. Using quantitative imaging and diffraction techniques in scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), the details of atomic structure and defects can be determined. Two novel STEM techniques will be presented. The first is atomic scale quantitative STEM imaging and the second is
fluctuation electron microscopy (FEM), based on electron nanodiffraction.

Dr. Hwang received his Ph.D. from UW-Madison.
