Location:

Event Details:

Borders Book Store will host a literary reading and musical performance by the Missouri State University departments of English and music. The program will begin with music by the Chamber Singers, one of the university’s premiere choral groups. English faculty, alumni, and students will then read selections from Moon City Review 2009, a literary annual published by the English Department’s Moon City Press. The evening will end with a CD- and book-signing.

The Chamber Singers are well known for their musical frolicks during the Elizabethan Christmas Dinners, held annually on the Missouri State University campus.

The Moon City Review 2009 is the flagship publication of Missouri State. Featuring works by English faculty and students, the book includes poems by Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner, Ted Kooser, and Presidential Inaugural Poet, Miller Williams.

Many contributors will be present to read from, discuss and sign their work. These will include Dr. Jane Hoogestraat, poet and co-editor of Moon City Review 2009; Marcus Cafagña, poet and author of Roman Fever; Mara Cohen Ioannides, children’s novelist and author of A Shout in the Sunshine; essayist and MSU alum, Billy Clem; and local musician and singer, Julie Henigan, whose incidental music will accompany the book-signing.
