The Missouri State Calendar of Events is intended to provide complete information regarding Missouri State events to the campus community and the general public, and will serve as the single source for all university web calendars. Information from the Calendar of Events will be used for all department, college and campus office calendars, including University Communications weekly Take Note and monthly Campus Connection.
By centralizing the process, all university units will have access to identical information, streamlining information flow and ensuring consistent use of content. Because of that, content accuracy should also be improved. Readers will be able to search for event information or browse events using a variety of categories. These categories include free events, public affairs, creative arts, science and the environment, teacher education, business and economic development, academic calendar, staff holiday, athletics, and training schedules.
All Calendar of Events events must be submitted electronically in the designated format, following the appropriate submission and approval processes. Calendar events must meet these guidelines:

University Communications produces three calendars that are released to the media (annual, monthly and weekly). Content for these calendars will be extracted from Calendar of Events submissions and are selected on the basis of probable media interest. Deadlines for submission vary depending on the type of calendar. Content All calendars provide a brief description of the event or activity. Information should be included in the calendar in this order: event/activity, location, date, time, admission and contact information. Distribution Approximately 40 media outlets throughout Springfield and the region receive the calendar, including campus media and appropriate campus offices. The calendars also are published on the news services web site.
During June of each year a letter is sent to all campus administrators requesting information about upcoming events in the academic year. During July and August, this information is compiled, verified and proofread. In September, a copy of the annual calendar is printed and photocopies are made for the news media, university relations director and his/her staff. In addition, copies are mailed to people who have requested an annual calendar.
The monthly calendar is prepared two months ahead of scheduled events. This calendar includes items previously entered on the annual calendar and any other items received since the previous annual calendar was prepared. The monthly calendar is mailed prior to the 15th of each month.
Events from Sunday through Saturday of the coming week are listed on the weekly calendar. The weekly calendar updates both the annual and monthly calendars and is disseminated to media every Thursday.
All calendar items must be submitted electronically using the online submission form. Only Missouri State employees, students, or others with university computer accounts may submit information. Content will then be reviewed and approved before being posted to the Calendar of Events database. One administrative approver will oversee student-related events, while a second administrative approver oversees most other events before items are finally posted to the Calendar of Events database.
