Mature language and content

Inspired by Lorraine Hansberry's groundbreaking 1959 play, A Raisin in the Sun, Clybourne Park expands upon the story, characters and themes of the earlier play and brings them up to date.

Act 1 takes place in 1959, when the all-white, middle-class Chicago neighborhood is on the verge of integration. Act 2 takes place 50 years later, when the now predominantly African-American enclave is on the cusp of gentrification and upscale white families are moving back in.

In both cases, the impending transformation of the community's complexion stirs fear and resentment among the residents, and confrontations erupt.

Winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and many other prestigious awards, this darkly humorous satire reveals the deeply entrenched attitudes that still divide our country.
